82 (above) and 83 (below). Spring Cottage, Church Road . The Henry Taunt postcard of around 1905 shows three cottages. Bob Herridge the ‘Blewbury Poet’ (no. 30) lived in the far one. It was outside these cottages that Blandford Fletcher painted two village ladies. They were somewhat disconcerted later on to discover that he had called his painting “The Gossips”. The cottages were made into one dwelling in 1961. |
