Farmers Market |
Farmers' markets operate regularly in Didcot and Wallingford.
The stallholders are typically farmers and similar suppliers based within a 30 mile radius..
- Didcot's Farmers' Market is held in the Orchard Centre (between Sainsbury's and Next)
every second Saturday of the month, 8.30am to 1.30pm.
In January 2008 this contained 12 stalls, half of which were selling meat,
including one roasting a whole pig and one offering venison.
There were 2 speciality cheese stalls, 2 bakers, a stall selling apple juice and a fresh fish stall with a line in crab meat.
The offerings were of high quality at prices competitive with the speciality lines in local supermarkets.
- Wallingford's Farmers' Market is held in the centre of the town
every third Tuesday and fifth Saturday of the month, 8.30am to 1.30pm.
In January - in spite of the heavy rain - it had a collection of stalls similar to Didcot's,
but also including a vegetable stall and a French stallholder selling pate, a large range of flavoured olives,
and treacle tarts (curiously enough!).
